Flex Terminal Emulator's file menu is displayed by clicking the File button at the top left of the main program window. It is used to perform the following functions:


New Workspace

Creates a new user Workspace, which may contain one or more sessions. When selected, user is prompted for a new Flex Workspace file name (*.aws) in the Flex Terminal Emulator working directory.

Open Workspace

Prompts the user to open an existing Flex Workspace file (*.aws) from the Flex Terminal Emulator working directory.

Save Workspace

Saves the current workspace environment. This does not save individual session configuration settings, which may be accomplished using the Save All option.  This saves the window position, session window layouts and other workspace settings.

Save Workspace As

Prompts the user to enter the name of a new workspace containing the same sessions as the current workspace.  Saves a copy of the current workspace windows, layouts, and settings to a new workspace file.

Save Workspace Shortcut to Desktop

Creates a shortcut to the current workspace on the user's desktop using the workspace name.

Save All

Save the current workspace settings and all contained sessions configurations.

New Session

Prompts the user to add an existing Flex Terminal Emulator Session (*.aha) to the current Workspace, or create a new session by entering a unique Session file name.

Save session.aha

Saves changes to settings for the currently selected Session. The Session name that appears on this button will change based on the Session that is currently active in the Workspace.

Save session.aha As

Prompts the user to enter the name of a new session containing the same configuration settings as the current session. The Session name that appears on this button will change based on the Session that is currently active in the Workspace.

Close session.aha

Removes the currently selected Session (*.aha) from the Workspace. The Session name that appears on this button will change based on the Session that is currently active in the Workspace.

Print

Prints the current host screen. Selecting the arrow on the right side of the Print button provides additional printing options: Page Setup, Print Preview and Print Multiple Screens.

Page Setup

Displays the Page Setup dialog, allowing the user to set font, header, footer margin and page orientation settings for host screen printing.

Print Preview

Displays a preview of the host screen to be printed.

Print Multiple Screens

Toggles the Print Multiple Screens system extension on/off.

Options

Displays the File Options dialog for configuring application level options. Selecting the arrow on the right side of the Options button provides additional options: Workspace Settings and Layout and Lockdown.

Workspace Settings

Displays the Workspace Settings dialog for customizing the directory location of Flex Terminal Emulator Schemes, Transfer Lists, Macros and Extensions.

Layout and Lockdown

Displays the Layout and Lockdown dialog for customizing the order of ribbon groups and hiding items from the application menu, ribbon and other miscellaneous user interface features.

About

Displays the Flex Terminal Emulator version, license and copyright information. Press the License button to launch the FlexLicense application, which allows entering a new FlexSoftware provided Flex Terminal Emulator license code.

Exit

Closes the current Workspace, including all participating sessions. The Workspace window may also be closed by choosing Close from the popup menu that displays when you click the Flex Terminal Emulator logo in the upper left-hand corner of the Workspace window, or by pressing Alt+F4.


Recent Sessions (Available only when File>New Session is selected)

This displays a list of the most recently used sessions, allowing you to quickly open an existing session and add to the current workspace. Items in the list may be pinned or unpinned from the list by choosing the push pin icon to the right of the item, which forces it to the top of the list. Or, any item from the list may be removed by pressing the x.


Recent Workspaces

This displays a list of the most recently used workspaces, allowing you to quickly open an existing workspace that contains one or more sessions. Items in the list may be pinned or unpinned from the list by choosing the push pin icon to the right of the item, which forces it to the top of the list. Or, any item from the list may be removed by pressing the x.
